Election 2006 = Balanced Gov’t
The Independents, Republican Centrists, and Democrat Centrists finally stopped drinking the kool-aid and voted for balanced government. They did NOT vote for gay-marriage, social welfare, or big government. They…and I include myself with them…DID vote for Accountability in Iraq, Helping the Middle Class, and Stopping the Pork. Now, by this time in 2004 Bush and the Republicans were gloating their asses off after they won both houses and the presidency. In the words of both G.W. Bush and Sen. Frist, “We now have political capital and we intend to spend it”….and boy did they. They just spent and spent and spent. The news channels were finally airing segments on how much gov’t waste there was. However, as soon as it was official that the Demcrats took the House and Senate…both the news channels and the Republicans were spewing doom-n-gloom: “How much will they spend…”. Wait a minute…MSNBC…you CNN and even FOX…2 months ago all aired segments about the obscene amount of spending that was taking place…lead by the Republicans. Gee, Ann Culter…that is such a liberal media thing to do….whatever.The 24hr News Channels are now looking for ‘The Story’. So far they’ve got ‘Although it was centrist Democrats that were elected, it will be the hardline Democrats (those San Fransico Liberals) that will be leading congress”. Nancy Pelosy has come out with what they want to do in their first 100 ‘hours’. Let’s see
- Raising Minimum Wage
- Competitive pricing for perscription drugs
- Redirecting the $10 ‘billion’ tax credit Big Oil recieves toward Alternative Energy
If that is does not spell out ‘Communisim’, I don’t know what does. No it doesn’t. These agenda items are politically straight-up the middle. As for Iraq, Democrats can’t CHANGE the strategy. Congress can only apply audits and apply accountablity…the Executive branch drives these plan. So…it’s a waste of time to ask “What will these Domocrats change in Iraq”. They can’t do jack…except…issue subpenas, reject wasteful spending, and DEMAND better financial bookeeping for how our fucking tax dollars are being spent over there. A $4000 toilet sit is unacceptable.

Skewed News Reporting
So, I’ve been on vacation all week and this morning was the first time I was able to have a relaxing time. As I drank my coffee, I flipped on the cable news. It was much the same…show the top stories….repeat. I quickly bored and wanted to checkout some tech new. I booted by trusty Mac Powerbook and headed to Google News. To my surprise, this news site had quite different top stories than what was be televised. The second top story on Google News was about a TV Reporter unlawfully killed by US troops in Iraq. Whoa! This was no where to be seen on the new broadcasts. Another one, General’s Remarks on Iraq Cause Stir in Britain. Again, no where on the broadcast. What the hell is going on?!So I proceeded to go over to the cable news websites. The following are my findings:MSNBCThe two articles were found on the front page. The U.K. General article was near the top…the other…was way…way..way down at the bottom in tiny font.CNNOnly U.K. General article was found on the front page.Fox NewsBoth articles were found on the front page. Both near the bottom in small font. The more interesting issue is that the U.K. General headline was skewed as: “British General Refines Pullout Call”. This would insinuate that the General was adjusting his statement. However, after reading the Fox News article, there was no mention of his ‘refined’ remarks. Conclusion; CNN is worthless and Fox News is misleading. Google News, thankfully, is the most unbiased news source available.
