Jackson’s First Owie
Tonight, Mommy was cutting Jackson’s rather long finger nails. Nearly complete, she just need to finish with is pointer finger. Then, in mid snip, wiggley Jackson jerked his little fingers, and the cutter nipped his baby finger tip :-(. He only cried for a second or two. I think Kristen was more traumatized that Jackson.

Messy Morning
This is gross but hilarious. I’m at work and I just received this email from Kristen:
Hey,
I just wanted to share with you that your son officially won the prize this morning for having the biggest, messiest poop in the history of bowel movements. I go to change him, and realize as I’m peeling off his shirt, that poop has managed to travel all way up his back, and has even managed to reach his right sleeve and go down his arm! So he won himself a nice bath before naptime.
How’s your morning going?
Too bad she couldn’t get any pictures for me to post

New Posh Fishing Outfit
Sporting a stylish plaid trouser with complimentary milk stain, Jackson is ready fish in style. His shirt has an print of a large fish swimming in water which matches his socks that have little worms to taunt the fish. Thanks mom

Pumpkin Patch Progress – Midsummer
It’s midsummer now and only 2 out of the original 12 seedlings survived. Although they started out so tiny and they could hardly be seen from the top of our hill, they’ve now sprawled at least 8 ft. in diameter and growing. Kristen also started another batch of 12 seedlings and planted them today. I think in about about a month our entire valley will be consumed by friggin’ pumpkins.

Grand Rapids Marathon 2006
Kristen and Amanda successfully completed in the 2006 Grand Rapids Marathon. They both ran the 1/2 marathon event with excellent times. The weather forecast was Partly Sunny, 44 degrees, and…24 mph winds. Saif, Sara, John and I braved the cold, winding weather to cheer these two crazy ladies on. Great job, ladies. I really proud of you.

Let’s Run Already!
Kristen and her girlfriend Amanda will be running the 1/2 marathon in tomorrow’s Grand Rapids Marathon event. They’ve been training for a couple months now and they are simply ready for it to be over with. It has been an unusually cold and wet October making for miserable running weather. Although it is going to be very windy tomorrow, the tempurature will be bareable as well as….no rain.Good Luck, Kristen and Amanda.

Reeds Lake Triathalon 2006
Kristen and Saif both successfully kicked butt in their first triathalon. They were 2 out of a 1000+ participants in the Reeds Lake Triathalon…and it was cold. We arrived at ~6:30am in order to find a decent staging spot. It was still dark, a bit drizzily, and freezing (~60 degrees). There was a wide spectrum of people participanting in the race and everyone was supportive and gun-ho. It made for an awesome atmosphere. After seeing how the event works and how awesome everybody was…I’m pysched to do a triathalon. So, next goal is to start training on the swimming, becasue that by far seemed to be the most difficult for everyone. I’ll be putting more photo up on the Schaveyhaus Flickr site.

Crash!
Oh no! Kristen was rear-ended this evening. Other than a sore neck and back, she seems to be fine. The cars in front of her were breaking because some deer were crossing the road. As Kristen abruptly started to break, the car behind her simply slammed right into her. Other than a bent fender and trashed exhaust pipe, the Pilot looks fine. The other car’s front end, however, was crazy smashed. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt. What really sucks it that this happened on the eve of her triathalon. She’s been training for it for months and was already fearful of not being to make some of the cut-off times. Now she has to deal with a screwed up neck. She’s a lot tougher that what she gives herself credit for. You watch, she’ll do just fine and be even more thrilled that she was able to overcome this minor inconvience.

Happy Birthday, Kristen
This Bo. He joined the Mike and Dawn Schavey family just last weekend. We visited those guys and was finally able to meet this sweet St. Bernard. He’s just a little bit older than two and is very well mannered. He’s a bit skittish but loves all the petting he can get his head under. You can see more photos in this Flickr slideshow.
