Happy Holidays

Merry Santa/Christmikkuh to everyone :-) . I hope you were all on the nice list and thankful for your holiday gifts. Kristen and I love all of our yummy holiday gift baskets. If we are not careful, we could actually overdose on chocolate. Kristen wants be to note that I was a greedy chocoholic and ate all the Godiva Chocolate Biscuit. In my defense…”I’m an addict”.Santa brought Jackson lots of colorful infant toys. Notable gifts include a mobile/noisemaker-thingie, a number of fuzzy blocks with color prints and an in-car playset. He’ll be throughly stimulated where ever he goes. I haven’t had a chance to assembly all of these toys yet, but the fuzzy blocks are definitely catching his developing eyes. We like to stack two of them in his Gymini and let him focus on the many colors. Eventually, he’ll wiggle so much that he’ll topple over the blocks which surprises him….very cute.We were able to video conference with both grandparents. We all got a kick out of it. With Jackson being a little more expressive, I enjoy seeing the grandparents reactions. It was so much fun to visit the other Schavey family as well. Mike and Dawn invited the everyone over the Sunday before Christmas. Holy cow did they provided quite the spread. All the kids and I sang a bunch of Chirstmas songs while we waited for the turkey to finish cookie. I asked if any of them knew the Dreidle Song.  No one knew it and the only reason I knew of it was from a South Park episode. So we started to see the song which reminded dawn of…..the dreidle set that set had. She bust those little suckers out and we had a ball playing with dreidles while singing christmas songs :-P

Thanksgiving Eve

Wow, do Kristen and I have so much to be thankful for this year. For starters, we now have a healthy, sleepy and hungry new baby to love and loose sleep over. I’m thankful for all the family and friends who were able to visit, call, cook meals and dog-sit for us. All of which has made this life-change much more bearable.By having all this help, we’ve been able to focus on Jackson and making sure that he’s loved and healthy. In fact, Jackson had his second doctor’s visit yesterday. There is no question whether he has been getting enough to eat. Now weighing in at 7 lbs 14oz, he’s back at his birth weight. He also grew an 1.5 inches in length. He still have been sneezing a lot and more baby boogers are present so the doctor wants us to keep a closer eye on him due to flu season.I was able to take the day off today which allowed Kristen to gets some much needed sleep. In fact, her and Jack are currently enjoying an late afternoon nap this very moment. With the weather being so gray and miserable, it makes for perfect snoozing.Jack has started to have longer and longer active states lately. His eyes are wide open and likes to sit in his ‘Gymini’ play mat and quietly wiggle and look all around. Kristen and I have been trying to snap photos whenever possible and will be posting another batch up on flickr in a day or two.

Happy Holidays!

Unwrapping BonanzaMerry Christmas, Happy hanukkah, Happy Kwanza…yada yada yada. I hope everyone had a healthy and joyful holiday. Kristen and I peformed the annual Visit-All-The-Families Wa Toosey. It was a lot of fun and everyone seemed to have a great time. Unfortunately,….no snow at all this year….very strange. It was probably the number topic of discussion.I writing this post a couple of days after Christmas. The week I like to call “The Lame Duck Week”. It pretty much absolutely worthless unless your a retailor. To make it worse, I’ve been terribly sick the past couple of days. Ugh. So that, combined with my Grandma also falling ill and the weather being extremely gloomy….this week kinda sucks.Hey Steve, being one of the few people I know that actually reads this trash, did you see any good flicks over the holidays or were you too busy flirting with guys on MySpace. God, I hate that site. I guess I should be make an ‘appearance’ on my page….hell no.With my cold getting past me, it’s now time to start revving up for Schaveyhaus News Years Bash. Oh yeah, Barry. We’ll be hosting this years gathering. Although we won’t be dropping big bucks on drink and cover at all the Grand Rapids bars, the plan is to still be all dressed up (black tie and champagne-style) and everyone bring wine and bubbly. It works for me…

Black Friday

Kristen and I joined in yesterday’s so called “black” Friday shopping bonaza. However instead of frantically waking up a 4am and scrambling, we took a leisure pace, got our Beaners and didn’t get to stores until around 9am. The crowds, at this time, were bad at all…with the exception of Kohl’s. Dear lord, that place was a mad house. Althought, I found very good deals on toys, games, and even jewerly, the lines were sooooooooooo long that I simply dropped everything I had on the floor and left in disbelief. Their deals weren’t that good. Now, some of the deals on electronics were so good…I just could not pass two of them up. ‘My’ new iMac 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM will be arriving sometime this Wednesday. I would have brought it home today, but I wanted the additional 1GB of RAM…so I had to purchase it online. I also dropped by Tivo’s website and found they had some crazy sales on there. So….we got a Tivo box for FREE with the purchase of a 1 year contract. So…Steve…I put you email address in for Tivo Points…I hope it was the right email address ;) .I closed out this shopping-spree of day heading to Target in the late evening to find the place empty of people but stocked to the ceiling with goods. I have now completed….yes…completed all of my holiday shopping in one flippin day. YEAH! Yes, I am ‘done’. I can’t believe it.Dude, I am so jacked for that computer. I’ve been saving up for a new computer for about a year. Unfortunately, everytime I had enough to make the purchase…..something unexpected happens…and that money gets thrown at that instead. But this time, the deals were just too good. Kristen’s pretty excited about the Tivo, too. Again, we’ve been watching the sales on this one for awhile and black Friday FREE Tivo’s, well, it was time to buy.So let the negotiations commence for what room the Tivo will be going in. For nearly a year now, I’ve been pressuring Kristen to move my bigger TV into the living room. Due to the distance our couches are from the TV, a smaller TV really makes your eyes strain and the audio must be cranked up to get the sound to carry to your distant ears. Solutions: move my big TV and stereo into that room and place satellite speaks near the distance couches. So what is the problem? The armoir I have for my big TV……doesn’t ‘match’ the living room colors. Uhhhhhhh. WHAT!? Dude, it’s dark chocolate brown…the colors in the living….are various hues of brown. Again, what’s the problem….”It’s too dark of a brown”. [hair being ripped from scalp...]
