Obama gettin’ ‘er done.

Dude, this guy has seemingly done more in 8 days than in Bush’s whole first term. I really like his “Get gov’t to frickin’ work.” attitude. He just needs to get some of congrssoonal del to think that way.

I mean to post this a number of months ago and just happened upon the link again. Yikes, according to what this kid is saying……in the year 2036….we’re all gonna die!

Happy Birthday Mom and Dad!

The past week both of my parents aged one more year. Mom even had a well organized surprise party planned by Dad with a lot of help from Dawn. The party had a ton of people and some really good food. Yum :-)

Quicken® Online: 100% Free Online Banking & Personal Finance Software

Quicken® Online: 100% Free Online Banking & Personal Finance Software. Dude, this is an awesome utility that Kristen and I have been using for about 2 months now.

Highlights:

  • Free, Free, Free
  • Reads account info from credit union and credit card
  • Really smart auto-categorization. What used to take hours with other software, this allowed me to quickly see spending trends 5 minutes after signing up.
  • Smart Summary Homepage. It shows you what your *Real* balance is until your next paycheck. i.e. Current Balance minus upcoming bills.

We find the software really intuitive and give the Quicken engineers mad-props for creating such an easy-to-use Web 2.0 personal finance web application.

Blockbuster working on Live Mesh app | Beyond Binary – CNET News

Blockbuster working on Live Mesh app | Beyond Binary – CNET News. I have been reading a lot about Live Mesh and Microsofts recently announced cloud computing platform, Azure. There is tons of potential in their approach. The technology is currently in beta-beta-beta but what I have worked with so far is very slick. I even had my mom install the Mac LiveMesh client to synchronize a shared folder I created in my private Mesh. The only problems we had were related more so to her internet connection speed and not with the LiveMesh software. Oh yeah, did I mention that we are both Mac users and the software from Mico$oft work just fine. Impressive.

30 Day Calorie Diet

Yeah, that really sucked. Trying to pull this off over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday period was insane. Although I did not reach my target weight loss for the time period, I didn’t really gain any. Bonus.

A Taste For the Extreme

Jackson has always amused himself and us while playing with drink straws still in the drink. He really just chews on them…until today. Kristen witnessed Jackson’s first drink from a straw. The concept, when you think about it, is rather foreign and doesn’t come naturally. But he figured it out and received his first taste of……Mountain Dew. She said he was CRAZY for it. He kept crying and was on the verge of a tantrum trying to get another sip. He has now had a taste of the extreme and he want more.

Truth in Sarcasm

Last weekend, SNL had a hilarious skit mocking the Big Three CEO’s trip to Capitol Hill. When asked if there was a plan for spending the requested $25 billion, the parodied CEOs responded by saying:

“The plan is to comeback on Dec 15th and ask for another $25 billion, then on January 1st we’ll ask for $50 billion, then 2 months later we’ll as for additional $100 billion.”

Obviously playing on the notion that these seemingly dense CEOs will wastefully spend the money and continue to come back to the taxpayer trough. There is definitely some truth to this. At least 3 other time in the past 20 years, the American automakers have received billion of dollars. The last was in 1999 for R&D of fuel-efficient vehicles. There was much a-do but after the election of 2000, we never heard about it again.

However, this same sarcasm should be levied on the financial industry. Why weren’t the CEO’s of AIG, Morgan Stanley, Citi-Group asked to testify as to their “plan” as to how they will use the –>$250 billion<– of the overall $700 billion? Hmm, inquiring minds want to know?
